My First Pageant
Well, the day finally came and it was time to shoot my first Pageant. What an experience it was. Let me say, while some young ladies received the crowns and will represent Bryan, there were no losers. These young ladies poured there heart out. The youngest was 6 years old. For a 6-year-old to come up to the microphone and tell who she is, and her sponsor was just amazing. I know, I have done public speaking and it can be nerve-racking and let's say, I am older than any of these lady's. You all did great. I have posted a few quick pictures of some of the pageant and will have more later. I had to set up for two different setups. One setup was a studio in a gym and the second setup was for the pageant in an auditorium. All these pictures are in the auditorium. My setting was for the auditorium was 70-200 lens, F4, 800 at 3600 ISO shooting manual. Why so high speed and high ISO? Some of these lady's move fast and I wanted focus over grain. Let's face it if a picture is out of focus you don't have a good picture.
I have never been to a pageant needless to say take pictures of one. But, I was very entertained and impress what goes into this. There is a lot of work that needs to be done by all. I think the hardest part for me was for the young lady's that did not so call the win. Tears were at the stage and almost tears with this photographer. They put so much into it. The judging is done by 10 judges and then everything is tally and you come up with the score. If you want to be entertained and see some local talent. I would recommend going to one of these pageants. I would like to say Thank you to Kristi Meade and Chasity Yoder the Director's of the Fountain City Pageant for letting me have the opportunity to be your photographer and to some great entertainment. You two did a great job with these young ladies.
